Overview
Brown County, MN has not adopted the Minnesota State Building Codes.
The new Brown County, MN Zoning Ordinance contains specific requirements for a zoning permit to be issued. This revised ordinance with an effective date of December 27, 2018, is applicable to all the area of Brown County, outside the incorporated limits of municipalities (See Brown County, MN Zoning Ordinance here). § 507.1 (Permits) mandates securing a zoning permit for erecting, altering or repairing a building if the cost is $2,500.
§ 507.5 (Accessibility) of the Zoning Ordinance pertains to accessibility requirements for persons with disabilities as stated in Minnesota State Building Code Chapter 1341. Brown County will employ or contract as needed a certified building official or accessibility specialist to enforce the provisions of Chapter 1341 only.
